Doxycycline is an oral antibiotic that is used to prevent infections that can threaten the success of retrievals and embryo transfers. It also may be used to prevent infections during some types of tests such as Fallopian tube tests (HSG) and hysteroscopy tests. It can be used in certain cases to treat infections such as Chlamydia or chronic endometriosis. Antibiotics are prescribed during fertility treatments in order to prevent or treat bacterial infections.
